Fábrica Social emerged in 2007 as a rural design school that seeks to provide tools to women artisans with the purpose of improving the marketing of the products of their traditional crafts.
Our name stems from reflection on how what we materially produce shapes society. When we create the objects we use and consume, we reproduce social patterns and structures of equality and equity. We construct, on a daily basis, the society in which we live.
After 2 years of existing as a rural design school, we observed the need to create a marketing channel in which the artisans we worked with could sell under true Fair Trade standards; thus, in 2009, the Fábrica Social marketing company was born.
